Payment Options

“I sincerely value therapy treatment that is financially sustainable for my entire caseload, and will always aim to offer quality services at a reasonable rate.”

Let’s talk about what is truly practical for your current needs, whether that be via private pay, through credentialed insurance, or out of network claim provision/reimbursement. I am also more than happy to provide lower-cost and alternate referrals to ensure your support.

  • Private Pay - allows for some sliding scale with conversation related to income and existing expenses (generally between $120 and $150). You will provide your debit/credit card information through a secure payment portal (via THERAPYNOTES electronic health records system) as part of your intake paperwork. I will charge the payment method on file within 24 hours of our completed session.

  • Insurance Claim submission - may allow for some additional financial support. I have partnered with ALMA as of 5/1/2022 (helloalma.com) to manage my practice’s billing and payment logistics with AETNA, OPTUM, CIGNA, and UNITED, insurances; this means I am easily able to support treatment with these providers (based on caseload availability*).

  • If you would like to apply your insurance plan to costs for treatment, I’ll send an email through Alma’s system prompting you to submit your insurance details. Once you’ve updated your information, Alma will email you with a confirmation of active coverage and an estimated payment responsibility for our sessions. You will also need to create the THERAPYNOTES portal for completion of intake paperwork, though session documenting and payment will take place on ALMA’s portal (I will prepare these accounts with intake scheduling).

  • Out of Network plans; Superbills & CMS-1500 forms – can be provided for your submission to your insurance company in order to receive potential session rate reimbursement. You will be responsible for paying the session rate (via payment authorization form through THERAPYNOTES electronic health records system), and we can agree on a schedule for printing and submitting what is basically a cumulative invoice of session costs and basic diagnostic information. You may want to check-in with your OON provider to ensure their rate of reimbursement before agreeing to services and moving forward with scheduling intake.*

Good Faith Estimate with “No Surprises Act” of 2022.

Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy services.

You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy services.

You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service.

If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
