The Well 1’s Approach to supporting Autistic Individuals

If you or your child have received an Autism diagnosis, or we are suspectrumming that your/their experiences are neurodivergent at the root, welcome to a new world!

-A world of intense love, curiosity, bravery, and the kind of game-changing-brilliance and resilience that our world so desperately needs.

There is nothing broken or wrong with the Autistic being. In fact, underlying the distress caused by the world’s chaos, is a true well 1 – someone who carries deep wisdom about self and others, with a pervasive drive for efficiency and peace.

I am so glad you exist, and am even gladder that we can learn about your wiring- differences and hold your strengths and growth-areas close.

One of my favorite resources for understanding the Autistic neurotype is Matt Lowry, LPP. He is from Kentucky, and is one of the states’ 2 autistic evaluators. He is relatable and the definition of neurodivergent affirming. I highly recommend looking into his work and giving his website and meme gallery a browse! https://www.mattlowrylpp.com/. He also has a cool podcast worth looking into, https://www.mattlowrylpp.com/the-autistic-culture-podcast

Neurodivergent* Well Ones will be cared for with A-CT

*”Neurodivergent” in this context specifically refers to clients with Autistic, ADHD, trauma, and/or co-occurring experiences.)

It’s important that we shift our limited understanding of what the Autistic individual “looks like” on a continuum, and work towards understanding the various human traits and intensities that designate the Autistic neurotype.

Criteria can be broken down to these areas “Interception, Emotional Intensity, Communication Differences, Relationship Differences, Special Interests, Stims, Exteroception, and Proprioception.

Well Ones have the opportunity to understand their traits and needs in office, by exploring the neurodivergent affirming workbook (*by Sonny Jane https://a.co/d/06HKQPR).
